When it comes to shipping your vehicle, there are a few options, Top of the Line Transport can work with you to determine the best option for your situation. Once we take all the factors into account, and determine which are the most important to you, we can make a good decision on the right lane to relocate your vehicle. It all begins with proper planning and having everything in order prior to delivery of the vehicle to the dock – Top of the Line Transport provides its clients with this peace of mind that all bases are covered and the freight is under control.

Obtain a written cost estimate
Most companies give free estimates, so be sure to ask ahead of time. The estimate is not binding, so the final cost may differ.

The cost of shipping your vehicle is priced based on size, and the port of departure. Once on island, you will be required to pay a road tax of $.16/Lb. of vehicle weight. Also required is DMV fees and registrations costs. This number varies depending on the weight of the vehicle, but is normally $90.00 - $1500.00. If your vehicle’s serial number begins with a 1, 4 or a 5 the vehicle is made in the USA and is not dutiable. If it begins with a 2 or 3, the duty rate is 6%. Any other digit is 3.5%

Requirements for all customers shipping vehicles to the Virgin Islands:

PLEASE NOTE: It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure any vehicle delivered to and tendered for export must contain no more than one-quarter tank of fuel as per 49CFR 176.905 (a) (2). Failure in doing so will delay the shipping of your vehicle and additional storage charges may apply.

1. Booking # (Reservation # with Customer Service Department).

2. Copy of Title (or authorization from the Financial Institution, if financed).

3. No additional items may be left inside the vehicle or it will not be accepted by the port..

4. EIN Number.

5. Vehicle should be cleaned prior to shipping to ensure proper inspection.

Pickup Vehicles in the US Virgin Islands:
Upon arrival in the US Virgin Islands, vehicles are subject to a process prior to pick up. A local Insurance policy has to be in placed unless you have USAA which is the only policy accepted. Road Tax has to be paid to the IRS. Vehicle has to be cleared by Excise Tax. The vehicle is then processed by Customs and duties paid if applicable. You can now get a permit from the BMV to retrieve from the port and get it Inspected. Top of the Line Transport can also see to the licensing and registration of the vehicle for you. Upon arrival in the USA, vehicles are subject to Customs Inspection and also USDA randomly inspects and charges a $50.00 fee for their services. If applicable this fee will be added to the final Invoice. Upon release, Top of the Line Transport will contact the customer to pick up shipments or arrange transport to the final destination. (Customer should ensure that they are contacted prior to making arrangements to pick up the vehicle).

The free time to pick up shipments varies by the US ports. DEMURRAGE - US IMPORT AT CARRIER'S TERMINAL IN JAX/PEV: Except as may be otherwise provided, all Equipment released for unloading at U.S. ports shall be allowed a total of seven (7) calendar days Demurrage Free Time which shall commence at 0800 on the Day following complete discharge of the vessel. If the vehicle is not released by Customs for pickup there will be an additional charge of $25 per day until it is released by the Customs starting on the 8th day. Top of the Line Transport requires 3 to 5 days after notice of release to schedule a pickup from the port if applicable.
